Hey everyone, I'll try and type this up as fast as I can because I really need to go to sleep soon for work tomorrow, but I would just like to quickly talk about the film I watched yesterday. Pixels is a 2015 science fiction action-comedy film. The poster suggests that the movie is based on PacMan eating up an island, but it is entirely not the case. This film is actually about the gaming world colliding with the real world. In fact the gaming world is coming down onto earth and attacking the world like a game in which there are only three lives, and once all those lives are used up, the world will be destroyed.
From what I have heard before I even saw this film, a lot of people really hated it, and didn't like it at all so I was a bit skeptical on watching this film, but in fact I quite enjoyed it. I am thinking that fans of the original video games may have went to see this film and hoping for something more spectacular from their childhood characters. I hate to disappoint but this is in fact the case, and most of the characters who may have been good in the games are actually usually the bad guy in the film. I think this could have been one factor affecting people's ratings.
Also because this is a sort of all-star live action mash-up film, you can't really expect to see all your favourite characters anyway as there needs to be some sort of storyline connecting everything together. But I guess while watching this film, I was thinking of Wreck-It Ralph, and how different that movie was rated.
I think the main reason why I liked this film so much was because it sort of brang video games to life in a cool action/ adventure way which I quite liked. Oh I just remembered, I think this movie is more targeted at kids, though I am not 100% sure on this, but I can see kids enjoying this film more than adults would.
Overall I don't see that this film is that bad, but it could have a few more better character developments as there are a few points in the film where I wondered who the characters were, and took me a while to figure this out. Overall I'll give it a 7/10, not a bad film at all. GOODNIGHT!

D-Day (Korean Drama)
Hey everyone, so I would like to quickly talk about a drama which I have just finished(took me around 10 days to finally finish). So D-Day is a 2015 Korean drama which is about an earthquake which happens in Seoul. The drama mainly follows the life of a young risk-taking doctor who performs risky surgeries that other doctors wouldn't even dream to attempt (Dr Lee played by Kim Young-kwang) who is put into situations throughout the entire drama. The director of the hospital actually opposes of his risk takings during surgeries and tries to get him to leave the hospital and remove his medical license.
When I first saw the trailer of this drama, I thought that maybe this drama would be almost entirely about the earthquake. Maybe we follow the lives of some of the characters and see how they get through the earthquake, and the aftermath. I actually didn't realise until I actually started watching the drama that it was actually a medical drama, so the entire drama is heavily focused on doctors, patients etc, something which is a first for me.
It took about 2 episodes before I really got into this drama though, so if you are thinking about watching this drama then please wait for at least 3 episodes before you decide to stop watching this drama. After the 3rd episode, I was really hooked, I wanted to know if everyone would survive or not. In later episodes we actually watch the battle between the director and Dr Lee which I found pretty interesting as well. What was interesting was that this was the first disaster drama which I have ever seen before, and also the first one on earthquakes. It made me realise how important doctor decisions are in order to save patients, and if you take too long to decide, then the patient can die. But after watching this drama it made me appreciate them more, and hope that it didn't happen during our Christchurch earthquake.
Overall I really enjoyed this drama and would rate it a good 8/10. It's not exactly 100% entertaining at times, but if you are seriously into the disaster and or medial genre then this is the drama for you. Usually the best dramas I watch have a character which I really resent, and the director is one, which means that the drama is good haha. Well that is all for this review anyway!

Sassy Go Go (K-Drama)
Hey everyone, so it's the holidays so I decided to start on watching some dramas. I found this drama because one of the characters in this drama is actually a member of a K-Pop group A-Pink called Eun-Ji. So I watched the trailer for this drama before it started, but I didn't think much of it really. I thought maybe it would be like another sort of Glee show with singing and dancing but I was wrong!
Ok so this is a drama which is based mostly around a high-school which is quite education focused. Students strive to be on top in their grades. With even one mark wrong in a test can mean that they get a whiplash or something. Ok this seems severe but is actually the norm ok :) So anyway, there's a group of students who are at the bottom of the ranking and just happen to be in a dance group as well. I'm just going to spill the beans here, but in the first episode things happen, and their group is disbanded because of the corrupt principal and school system (you figure this out as more episodes go on). This is due to the student's parents who are wealthy and have a lot of power so they do things such as bribe the principal and school to help their students in any way popular.
Now from only watching the first episode I was already hooked because there's some usual K-Drama stuff like back-stabbing and friendships falling apart, and getting caught up in those fake love affairs lol. But after watching a few episodes you realise that there's more than meets the eyes. I believe a lot of this drama is about friendship/ frenemies?? haha, and dealing with parent's expectations which I think a lot of students can relate to. There's also something which I thought was interesting which adds to this drama as a whole. "No adult can be trusted", that's at least a message from watching this movie anyway, and at least that is true for the families who are higher up with power. The people who are higher up may have everything from wealth, to brains may not have something which can make them happy, and that is friends, and free time.
And if you are interested, there is a love triangle, but that doesn't appear until some episodes in so watch out for that haha. There was something else I wanted to add but I have forgotten now. Although the drama was targeted as a cheerleading drama (at least that's what I thought at first), there so much stuff going on, and seriously this is one of the most emotional dramas I have ever seen. Seriously if you want to feel every emotion, this is the drama to look for. And as for the hooks, luckily the drama doesn't end funny in each episode, but is hooking enough for us to want to watch more.
Overall I will have to give this drama at least a 9.5/10. It is soooooo good. Mostly because the script is written so well, and the actors play their parts so well. If you are looking for something dramatic this is the show for you. I live watching school dramas, and I have seen quite a few, but this one tops them all in terms of plot-line. You wouldn't think some things happen but they really do. I'm up to the last episode now, I started 2 days ago so I can't wait to finish soon. Well sort of anyway, I'll be dreading it once I finish the drama, but yea, hope you enjoyed this post!

Fearless (2006 Film)
This film is about an arrogant martial artist called Huo Yuanjia played by Jet Li set on becoming the best fighter of Tian Jin. He fights anyone who wishes to fight. Unfortunately it later takes a toll on him as people are left dead because of his actions (Let's not say who here!) so he is later left to settle his emotions. As the film progresses we do see a development in his character, I think this is sort of why I like this film. There's quite a bit of character development, while also having some pretty interesting fight sequences. I guess I'd have to give this film a 7/10. There's not much on the film that I will comment on, but if you are interested in the Wu Xia genre, and like watching Chinese martial art films, then this film is probably for you!
Red Cliff (2008-2009 War Film)
Ok so I watched this film called Red Cliff today. For some reason I've been into the historic Chinese films lately. i bought this one some time ago, and only got around to watching it today. So I will keep this review short. That is sort of because I don't remember what happened really.
Red Cliff is a historic Chinese war film, set back many dynasties ago. Because I don't quite understand the story, I need to tell you to read the description on Wikipedia or something. But this post is just my thoughts on the film. I think the reason why I didn't really get this movie was because there are so many characters in this film, and they arn't ever really introduced properly. There's not much of a character development.
This film was actually a 2 part film, over 300 minutes long, though the DVD only released about half that time. I think the overall filming of the movie was quite good anyway. The thing that lacks is a bit of dialogue as there isn't that much character development. But I'm not quite, because I guess this film is about war, so you would expect a lot of fighting, which is what they did.
I guess overall, if you are just wanting to watch spectacular battle sequences, then this is the perfect film for you. If you are looking for more of a storyline, and want to get to know some new characters, this this isn't quite the film for you. I myself didn't enjoy it, well.... I couldn't remember half the storyline so I won't rate it. Anyway those are just some of my thoughts on the film, you'll need to decide for yourself if you enjoy this film or not :)
