Top 5 Summer K-Pop Girl Group Tracks of 2015 (My Picks)

Ok so please before we start don't judge, these are just my thoughts ok :)
So before I start, this top 5 countdown post is just for girl groups so don't comment saying I missed out some guy groups because this is only for the girl groups out there(no solo artists either).

At the start I really wasn't into the summer tracks. I didn't find any of them catchy or interesting to watch. I had to really listen to some songs a few times over a period of a few months before I really got into some of these songs I have listed here.

5. Sistar - Shake It

Uploaded by 1theK (원더케이)

Ok so I have to say that Sistar isn't my favourite groups out there. It was only when I listened to their previous summer track that I really started getting into them and bought some of their albums. These days I don't really watch this song because of the slip performance which I saw which made it a bit hard for me to watch/ listen to afterwards.

4. AOA - Heart Attack
Uploaded by CJENMMUSIC Official

I actually got this song stuck in my head for one point,  the chorus is pretty catching. Once again I wasn't a big fan of this group, but this song is actually one of my favourites from them, maybe because the song is just a tad less sexy than what they do in some of their other videos.

3. A Pink - Remember
Uploaded by 1theK (원더케이)

So some people could be wondering why this is my number 3. This song didn't initially appeal to me, though A Pink is one of my favourite K-Pop girl groups. This song is less upbeat compared to some of the other summer songs out there, but still there's something very catching in this song compared to the other songs, for me anyway. Maybe the dance in the chorus just appealed more to me?? But remember always makes me remember :) I really like Chorong's bit in the song, I think it really suits her soft voice.

2. GFriend - Me Gustas Tu
Uploaded by kt music

Ok so ever since Glass Bead came out I had already been liking their music but this track is really catchy I think. Out of all the songs on my list, I think they are the most natural I think, if I can even explain it like that. It just feels very fresh with the green grass and stuff. But for the song itself I could listen to it again and again really. This isn't number 1 actually, and I was thinking about it but it has a more spring feel don't you think, but does have a hot summer feel of spending time with family don't you think??

1. Girl's Generation - Party
Uploaded by SMTOWN

Girl's Generation haven't been on my list of girl groups which I follow but after the release of this song I really started watch and listening to more from them. The only thing I really hate about this song is when they sing "P-A-R-T-Y", it's a bit annoying for me, but doesn't kill the whole song for me. So sometimes annoying can be a bad thing, but annoying songs are usually my favourite if they are not too annoying, and in this case there's enough but just to be in my top 1. I was obsessed with this song for quite a while compared to the other songs on this list, which makes it into my top 1 on the list.

Well that's it, these are my top 5 K-Pop girl group summer songs for 2015, enjoy the rest of the holidays and have a happy new year! Can't wait for more K-Pop in 2016! I know there will be many people who have different views from mine so if so please leave a comment telling me your top 5 list. Thanks for stopping by!

Into The Storm (2014 Film)

Ok so I had high hopes for this film, but I heard from many sources that the film was pretty bad, but I still wanted to watch it anyway to see if it's that bad. So this is a disaster film on mysterious tornados which constantly hits an American community, and there are a select cast who try to make it out of the disaster.

Almost the entire film is shot is a sort of handheld view (it is a lost footage genre I believe) which means that there are quite a few shaky camera views which can make people a bit motion sick if you are like me right now @@

Overall I think it was just an ok movie, nothing exciting. The special effects are great though, I have to say that. Overall I'd have to give it a 4/10. It doesn't have anything good in terms of the plot but if you like disaster films where things blow up, or get destroyed then this just may be the film for you!

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (Anime Movie)

Hey everyone, I just finished watching Naruto Land of Snow. I watched the movie, but can't say much about it so I won't really review it but can I just say that I feel a few similarities with the Pokemon movie Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. Mainly because there is some sort of key in which is needed to be protected, but really there's not much of a similarity, but it just reminded me of it anyway haha. Anyway I saw a real strong message in the film which I thought I'd quickly talk about anyway. "Believe in yourself." Princess Gale doesn't believe in herself or anyone, but Naruto tries to prove her wrong, and shows her that if you work hard and keep doing it, then things can pull through at the end. That's all I wanted to say anyway. I'm just watching the funny short in the DVD extra now, it's pretty funny haha. Back to Avatar the Legend of Aang now :) Bye!

Pixels (2015 Film)

Hey everyone, I'll try and type this up as fast as I can because I really need to go to sleep soon for work tomorrow, but I would just like to quickly talk about the film I watched yesterday. Pixels is a 2015 science fiction action-comedy film. The poster suggests that the movie is based on PacMan eating up an island, but it is entirely not the case. This film is actually about the gaming world colliding with the real world. In fact the gaming world is coming down onto earth and attacking the world like a game in which there are only three lives, and once all those lives are used up, the world will be destroyed.

From what I have heard before I even saw this film, a lot of people really hated it, and didn't like it at all so I was a bit skeptical on watching this film, but in fact I quite enjoyed it. I am thinking that fans of the original video games may have went to see this film and hoping for something more spectacular from their childhood characters. I hate to disappoint but this is in fact the case, and most of the characters who may have been good in the games are actually usually the bad guy in the film. I think this could have been one factor affecting people's ratings.

Also because this is a sort of all-star live action mash-up film, you can't really expect to see all your favourite characters anyway as there needs to be some sort of storyline connecting everything together. But I guess while watching this film, I was thinking of Wreck-It Ralph, and how different that movie was rated.

I think the main reason why I liked this film so much was because it sort of brang video games to life in a cool action/ adventure way which I quite liked. Oh I just remembered, I think this movie is more targeted at kids, though I am not 100% sure on this, but I can see kids enjoying this film more than adults would.

Overall I don't see that this film is that bad, but it could have a few more better character developments as there are a few points in the film where I wondered who the characters were, and took me a while to figure this out. Overall I'll give it a 7/10, not a bad film at all. GOODNIGHT!

D-Day (Korean Drama)

Hey everyone, so I would like to quickly talk about a drama which I have just finished(took me around 10 days to finally finish). So D-Day is a 2015 Korean drama which is about an earthquake which happens in Seoul. The drama mainly follows the life of a young risk-taking doctor who performs risky surgeries that other doctors wouldn't even dream to attempt (Dr Lee played by Kim Young-kwang) who is put into situations throughout the entire drama. The director of the hospital actually opposes of his risk takings during surgeries and tries to get him to leave the hospital and remove his medical license.

When I first saw the trailer of this drama, I thought that maybe this drama would be almost entirely about the earthquake. Maybe we follow the lives of some of the characters and see how they get through the earthquake, and the aftermath. I actually didn't realise until I actually started watching the drama that it was actually a medical drama, so the entire drama is heavily focused on doctors, patients etc, something which is a first for me.

It took about 2 episodes before I really got into this drama though, so if you are thinking about watching this drama then please wait for at least 3 episodes before you decide to stop watching this drama. After the 3rd episode, I was really hooked, I wanted to know if everyone would survive or not. In later episodes we actually watch the battle between the director and Dr Lee which I found pretty interesting as well. What was interesting was that this was the first disaster drama which I have ever seen before, and also the first one on earthquakes. It made me realise how important doctor decisions are in order to save patients, and if you take too long to decide, then the patient can die. But after watching this drama it made me appreciate them more, and hope that it didn't happen during our Christchurch earthquake.

Overall I really enjoyed this drama and would rate it a good 8/10. It's not exactly 100% entertaining at times, but if you are seriously into the disaster and or medial genre then this is the drama for you. Usually the best dramas I watch have a character which I really resent, and the director is one, which means that the drama is good haha. Well that is all for this review anyway!

Sassy Go Go (K-Drama)

Hey everyone, so it's the holidays so I decided to start on watching some dramas. I found this drama because one of the characters in this drama is actually a member of a K-Pop group A-Pink called Eun-Ji. So I watched the trailer for this drama before it started, but I didn't think much of it really. I thought maybe it would be like another sort of Glee show with singing and dancing but I was wrong!

Ok so this is a drama which is based mostly around a high-school which is quite education focused. Students strive to be on top in their grades. With even one mark wrong in a test can mean that they get a whiplash or something. Ok this seems severe but is actually the norm ok :) So anyway, there's a group of students who are at the bottom of the ranking and just happen to be in a dance group as well. I'm just going to spill the beans here, but in the first episode things happen, and their group is disbanded because of the corrupt principal and school system (you figure this out as more episodes go on). This is due to the student's parents who are wealthy and have a lot of power so they do things such as bribe the principal and school to help their students in any way popular.

Now from only watching the first episode I was already hooked because there's some usual K-Drama stuff like back-stabbing and friendships falling apart, and getting caught up in those fake love affairs lol.  But after watching a few episodes you realise that there's more than meets the eyes. I believe a lot of this drama is about friendship/ frenemies?? haha, and dealing with parent's expectations which I think a lot of students can relate to. There's also something which I thought was interesting which adds to this drama as a whole. "No adult can be trusted", that's at least a message from watching this movie anyway, and at least that is true for the families who are higher up with power. The people who are higher up may have everything from wealth, to brains may not have something which can make them happy, and that is friends, and free time.

And if you are interested, there is a love triangle, but that doesn't appear until some episodes in so watch out for that haha. There was something else I wanted to add but I have forgotten now. Although the drama was targeted as a cheerleading drama (at least that's what I thought at first), there so much stuff going on, and seriously this is one of the most emotional dramas I have ever seen. Seriously if you want to feel every emotion, this is the drama to look for. And as for the hooks, luckily the drama doesn't end funny in each episode, but is hooking enough for us to want to watch more.

Overall I will have to give this drama at least a 9.5/10. It is soooooo good. Mostly because the script is written so well, and the actors play their parts so well. If you are looking for something dramatic this is the show for you. I live watching school dramas, and I have seen quite a few, but this one tops them all in terms of plot-line. You wouldn't think some things happen but they really do. I'm up to the last episode now, I started 2 days ago so I can't wait to finish soon. Well sort of anyway, I'll be dreading it once I finish the drama, but yea, hope you enjoyed this post!

Fearless (2006 Film)

This film is about an arrogant martial artist called Huo Yuanjia played by Jet Li set on becoming the best fighter of Tian Jin. He fights anyone who wishes to fight. Unfortunately it later takes a toll on him as people are left dead because of his actions (Let's not say who here!) so he is later left to settle his emotions. As the film progresses we do see a development in his character, I think this is sort of why I like this film. There's quite a bit of character development, while also having some pretty interesting fight sequences. I guess I'd have to give this film a 7/10. There's not much on the film that I will comment on, but if you are interested in the Wu Xia genre, and like watching Chinese martial art films, then this film is probably for you!

Red Cliff (2008-2009 War Film)

Ok so I watched this film called Red Cliff today. For some reason I've been into the historic Chinese films lately. i bought this one some time ago, and only got around to watching it today. So I will keep this review short. That is sort of because I don't remember what happened really.

Red Cliff is a historic Chinese war film, set back many dynasties ago. Because I don't quite understand the story, I need to tell you to read the description on Wikipedia or something. But this post is just my thoughts on the film. I think the reason why I didn't really get this movie was because there are so many characters in this film, and they arn't ever really introduced properly. There's not much of a character development.

This film was actually a 2 part film, over 300 minutes long, though the DVD only released about half that time. I think the overall filming of the movie was quite good anyway. The thing that lacks is a bit of dialogue as there isn't that much character development. But I'm not quite, because I guess this film is about war, so you would expect a lot of fighting, which is what they did.

I guess overall, if you are just wanting to watch spectacular battle sequences, then this is the perfect film for you. If you are looking for more of a storyline, and want to get to know some new characters, this this isn't quite the film for you. I myself didn't enjoy it, well.... I couldn't remember half the storyline so I won't rate it. Anyway those are just some of my thoughts on the film, you'll need to decide for yourself if you enjoy this film or not :)

Butterfly Lover (2008 HK Film)

I have to say, this is the first time I have watched a film that was dubbed and subbed at the same time! I believe that the original is actually voiced in Mandarin, though for some reason they released it in Cantonese in NZ. Anyway, I was a bit surprised when they started talking. It wasn't until I searched up on Wikipedia, that I realised that it was voiced in Mandarin, that proves that the voicing was pretty good, though I did have my suspicions.

The story is pretty obvious from the title. It is roughly based on the Butterfly Lovers story but with a martial arts twist to it. The story goes that a girl needs to go and study, but she cannot because she is a girl, and only guys can study, so she must disguise herself as a male for her to be able to study. While she is there, she quickly falls in love with a guy, and the guy starts to fall in love with her. What's funny is that he thinks that he's sick because he's in love with a guy lol.

This film is more story over action, but there are a few action sequences. I guess if you want to watch a tragic love story unfold then this is quite a movie for you! I really like watching Chinese movies set in the olden times, there's something about their clothing, buildings and culture which really fascinates me.

I'd have to give this film an 8.5/10. For 50 cents at The Warehouse, I didn't really expect much, but there's quite a lot that happens in this movie which keeps me hooked. Hope you liked it just as much as I did :)

The Sixth Sense (1999 Film)

Hey everyone, I wanted to talk about this movie quickly. This won't be my usual review as I don't have that much time but would like to talk about it a bit. So the movie revolves around a doctor and a kid. The kid can see ghosts, and the doctor is some sort of psychiatrist. The movie begin with the doctor getting shot, and the film moves to the next fall where he goes and tracks down the kid.

So the kid is really scared and shuts out basically everyone except for the doctor, and it's up to him to try and figure out a problem to help the kid with his ghost problem. At the same time, he has trouble talking with his wife after the incident the year before.

Up until around past half-way of the film, I thought the film was a bit boring as not that much happened. I actually thought it was another horror film because of the way the cover presents itself, and because it is a supernatural thriller film, but I was wrong haha.

After around half way through the film there are actually a few things which are revealed, and within the ending of the film, you realise what really was going on, and we get some sort of closure to the film. I think the writer(s) of this film were very cleaver, and you can tell that they spent some time working out the plot from beginning to end. Although it's not mentioned, I would say that there are aspects of the psychological genre in this film as I starting to begin thinking of stuff within the last half of the movie, but that's just me anyway haha.

I would give this film a 7/10. It's not bad at all, but you just need to remember to watch the whole movie. Don't just assume anything without watching the full movie from start to end, that is all I am going to say. Goodnight!

HEROES REBORN (1st Episode and Web-episode)

Hey guys, it's been ages since I've posted something on this page. Today I have decided to talk about Heroes Reborn (the web-episode) which links what happened in the final episode of Heroes, what what had happened in the events leading after that.

The story is about a girl called Phoebe who has the ability to work with shadows. The mini episodes help link with the new season of Heroes. It is seen that there's discrimination in the world after people find out that there are "EVOS???" out there (Feels like something X-Men haha).

I don't want to talk too much, but anyway I watched about 4 episode and switched to the first episode of heroes reborn. Because I skipped a few episodes I can't say for certain the entire storyline but basically there was an event which was going to help the EVOS and humans get together, but there was a huge explosion killing many people, and making the humans have something against them.

With the first episode of Heroes Reborn we are fast forwarded to a year later. I don't want to spoil too much, but there are people who we know from the original series who have died, and some who are missing or on the run. There's even one character which I realised was playing an original character from the original series only from looking them up.

If you are looking for action, suspense and a thrill, then Heroes Reborn is for you. The web-episode is more of a storyline to guide you to the new series, or people who want a back story of Heroes. I really don't want to spoil too much. For the 1st Episode of Heroes Reborn, I'd have to give it a 7.5/10. We are introduced to characters but I couldn't feel much for what is going to happen in future episodes.

There is one girl's character who is able to go into a computer game which I think is really cool. I wonder if that is really her power? I can't wait to see more of the original characters back again! As for the web-episode I can't really put a rating because it's more based on storyline than anything to link both things together.

Anyway, let's end this here. Bye!

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls (OVA anime)

Finished watching Elfen Lied or Another and looking for another bloody anime title to watch? Corpse Party is an anime which includes lot of horror, blood, and gore, something which will satisfy your bloody anime tastes. A group of students and their teacher are trapped in an alternate dimension (just a school) and seem to be murdered one at a time in horrific deaths which will really make you squirm. This OVA even goes as far as showing the internal organs of the victims so yea, this OVA is not for the light hearted.

In terms of the story line, I think there could be a bit more to go on, but for a 4 episode OVA, they rushed things a bit and introduced a bit too many characters to kill off. Overall I'd have to give this series a 7/10 as it is alright if you're looking for more gore and action rather than the storyline itself. And by the way, doesn't part of the opening song remind you of a certain American pop song?? Let me know if you notice it too! Anyway, this was a quick review, hope you enjoyed!

Mind Game 心迷 (Singaporean Drama Review)

Hey everyone, I will be quickly reviewing the 2015 Singaporean drama Mind Game. This drama actually consists of Singaporean and Malaysian actors and actresses, including quite a diverse range of characters. This drama is a thrilling crime type suspenseful drama. I guess you can call it sort of like an asian criminal minds with more drama compared to only crime focused.

I actually quite enjoyed this drama as it brings many diverse storylines. Although this is the case, there are places where you sort of expect what will happen (I myself having watched many dramas before), so the script-writers followed the usual drama antics. Although this is the case, there isn't many boring parts of this drama as it flows through quite nicely. You usually have one crime which gets resolved within around 3-6 episodes , and in the middle you follow a select number of characters.

Within the drama there are things which linger around which are slowly revealed within each episode. One of the characters got separated with his sister when they were only a child, and quite a huge chunk is about him finding his sister. All I can say is expect the unexpected ok :)

As the show progresses, you sort of realise why the drama is called Mind Game. Sometimes the episodes play tricks on you. There are hypnotists and people who have premonitions. Sometimes characters hide their true nature, and someone who might be good just may be a baddy and vice versa. All I can say is that this drama definitely plays with your mind a bit.

All in all I quite enjoyed this drama and would give it an 8.5/10. If you enjoy dramas heavily related to crime then why not give this drama a try? Until next time, bye!

Persevere, Goo Hae Ra (2015 Korean Drama)

Hey everyone, I started watching Persevere on Friday, and decided to do a review on this drama today(I'm up to episode 5 at the moment).

I have to say that this drama really reminds me of Glee, even though I have not watched Glee before, there seems to be a musical aspect which takes my mind back to Glee. The story revolves around 6 people whose dreams are to become singers. Each of these 6 members meet at a TV show which selects people based on their vocal skills rather than looks and age. Within the first few episodes, a tragedy strikes and destroys the lives of many. This blurb is just a little insight of the story without revealing too much.

I myself quite like this drama, and have enjoyed watching it. My cousin mentioned that it's a musical drama, but the drama I feel has a good balance of both music and drama. You cannot compare this drama to any of your usual American dramas compared to Glee or HSM. There are quite a bit of emotional scenes and quite funny scenes in this drama, so it really takes you on an emotional journey. I think maybe a negative on this drama is the length as it's over 1hr long, but there's only 12 episodes so I guess it's a pretty reasonable length in run time due to this.

Have not much else to say about this drama. You have this sort of love triangle thing happening, something which dramas are good for so you can say that this drama doesn't remove the usual K-Drama aspect of this show. There is also one more thing I really like which some people may not about this drama, and that is that the singers sing covers of already sung songs(similar to Glee). Yea anyway, let's keep this short, I'd give this series 7.5/10. I think it's a good drama to watch, even if you don't like K-Pop, you can just skip the singing bits, but the drama is quite worth while to watch, especially if you don't expect something yea??

I Saw the Devil (Korean Film)

Ok first off, this psychological thriller/horror film is not for the faint hearted as it deals with quite graphic violence(though most of it is actually off screen) and includes nudity too. I myself did not expect quite a film while I was starting to eat my dinner so that was a really bad idea!

Anyway, the film starts off not too bad, Joo-yun played by Oh San-ha is sitting in her car on a snowy night due to her car breaking down. While talking to her fiancé, a man appears and offers to fix her car, though she quickly shoos him away, only to have him later break into her car and knock her unconscious. He later kills her by chopping her into pieces. Oh yea did I mention her fiancé is an agent called Soo-hyun (Played by Lee Byung-hun), so basically whole film revolves around him finding the killer and tracking and stopping him once and for all to get revenge (I'm around 50% through the movie so far). I later found out that the agent lets the killer off before the killer goes and finds his next target. I find this aspect of the film a bit odd, and I don't quite understand why it is done.

All I have to say is that if you want to watch a psychopathic maniac on the killing Supre then this film is the one for you. I myself have watched countless horror films but this one really tops the gore factor. I like how the director has utilised off screen violence to make scenes so much more gruesome, it's really fascinating how the director has done this. For the storyline, I think it is very unique, something out of the ordinary. Maybe because I have not watched many Korean films before, but they seem to have a way with storytelling. There are countless fight scenes in this film which I think would entertain the people who are interested in action films as well.

Overall this film is quite something, a bit hard to understand in parts, and a bit hard to watch in others, but overall I think this film is quite something. I do not think this film is suited for everyone, but if you are into more horror films this this film is more for you. My rating would have to be a 7/10. See you next time in my next review, bye!

BecexTech NZ (Website Review)

Hi everyone, today I received my Canon PowerShot G7 X that I ordered from BecexTech NZ. Before I review the camera, I just wanted to do a review on the company first for people who may be wanting to know if they should trust this company or not.

So I ordered this camera from this site because I saw that it was cheap, and got good ratings so I decided to take a chance. There were many extras in buying the camera including extra battery, extended warranty, postage insurance etc. I bought an extra battery and spent on the postage insurance(though I'm wondering if it was even necessary). It took about a week for the order to process and ship off and arrived within 3 days. It got caught up by customs today, but I was able to manage the situation and it arrived today :)

First off I I have to say that I was a bit worried about the transaction process of buying from this item. They sent an order confirmation letter saying that the order was processing, and another one saying that they sent off the item(s) so that's pretty good. And processing was relatively fast, including postage.

The negatives from this site is that they order items from Hong Kong (might be from some other places too) but instead of stock on shelves, they order overseas, this means that you have a chance of needing to pay GST. When I bought from this website I thought that I would not need to deal with GST because it seemed like a NZ company, but because the items are shipped from oversea
Overall I'm not quite sure I would buy from this company again due to the GST risk, bus, you do deal with GST, that is the main negative thing I think you must consider when buying from this website. They also forgot to send my extra battery so I am following up on their customer service on this so I'll keep you guys posted. But if you are looking to take a risk on GST then why not? This company is one of the cheapest out there online in NZ.

The Crucible (2011 South Korean Film)

Hey everyone, new movie I'm watching today thanks to Yesasia for the free DVD's :)
The DVD I have calls this movie Silenced though I searched it up online and got the Name The Crucible. Anyway, this movie is a 2011 South Korean movie which is based on a true story (I can't believe it!). The story revolves around Gwangju Inhwa School which is a hearing impaired school for which students are victims to all sorts of horrible things by teachers at the school. The film starts off quiet enough, you don't suspect anything strange, but after hearing screams from the girl's bathroom Kang In-ho (Played by Gong Yoo) seems to get a bit suspicious, and throughout the film things unravel, as secrets are revealed about the school.

I think overall the film is very touching and emotional. I've never watched a movie that felt so real to me. There's bits where I really wanted to punch the actors in the face! I think the director, writers, actors and whoever else were involved in this film did a really really great job to make the film as believable as it is. I am not quite sure how much the film is based on real events,  but I can say that I really believed every single moment of it.

I think this film is a very mind changing for me anyway, I would give this film an easy 9.5/10 and would really urge people to watch this film.

Card Captor Sakura (Anime Review)

I finally finished watching Card Captor Sakura after numerous months watching it!!Card Captor Sakura had been part of my childhood, and even watching it now, it still is one of my most favourite anime titles ever, I still can't get enough of it. Growing up living in a "western" country, I was only able to watch the English dub version, so watching the Japanese version for the first time(I bought the whole collection last year) I was forced to watch the whole thing in Japanese, and yes there are numerous differences between the two. If you are interested you can read other people's reviews online about all the differences but I will not be really discussing about them here.
* Update, I do so be warned!

Basically the anime revolves around the life of a young girl named Sakura who accidentally let loose all of the Clow Cards which are magical cards which possesses powers such as jump, fly, wind etc. Because she let loose all of the cards, she must capture them and return them back into their card forms before something bad might happen to the world. I myself love these sort of action/ adventure magic anime titles which also revolve around school life. There's something about this anime which really helps inspire people and wish that they could control these Clow cards themselves.

There are two differences which I must mention here because they really stand out and might affect which version you may want to watch. One is that the voice actors in the Japanese vs the English dub. In the Japanese everyone is a lot more high pitched and girly/ cute. I can see why in the English dub they went to a more mature sounding cast which was I believe so that more of the male viewers could enjoy the show more. My sister started watching the English dub yesterday and I thought it looked a bit strange as I'm used to watching the Japanese dub now, but that's just me. I know there are people out there who are only loyal to everything original with no dub, but I do enjoy watching dub sometimes, as long as the voice actors are similar in both versions, Card Captor Sakura is one of those exceptions. I don't think I could ever enjoy watching the dub again!

There's also another reason why I don't think I could ever enjoy watching the dub again, and it's because there's numerous scenes which are cut in the dub so that the show saves time overall. There are some episodes which were removed, and some episode shifts. Did you know that the first episode in the Dub isn't even the actual first episode in the original??!!! I couldn't believe it, my childhood was a lie bahaha. Anyway....

Overall I'd have to rate this title a 9.5/10, it is seriously one of the best I have ever seen, and hardly anything can match Card Captor Sakura, and this is me who has watched numerous titles! You know I haven't really talked much about the actual title but I think I should discuss why guys should watch this title too(people who are put off cute titles).

So if you're a young boy or even just someone who is put off cute stuff, I have to say that there's more to the anime than just the cute, girly, pink world of Sakura. Everyone who created this anime title really did a good job with the storyline because they were able to characters looks so cute, yet have such a serious side as well. There's a lot of characters who have a mysterious side of them as well which is later revealed in future episodes so you must watch out for this, especially the final episodes, I had goosebumps, and I had already watched it numerous times(last time was in 2011).

Shall we end this post here before it gets any longer?? Anyway, if you have not seen this anime yet then i highly recommend watching it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Cya in my next post! Bye!

Pokémon Dash (Game Review)

Hey everyone, just got back from playing Pokemon Dash. I'll just be quickly talking about the game. So basically, this game is a racing game in which you start off playing with Pikachu, and you race against a number of Pokemon. The aim of the game is to run over selected Pokemon spots which light up(sort of like flags), and you need to run in the order of the Pokeballs. You cannot just select any one, you must go towards the direction of the arrows which guide you.

Overall the game does take some getting used to. I had to use the restart button multiple times in the beginning. I think the game would be a lot more fun if you didn't have to use the stylus as this sort of affects game play, as you need to keep moving your stylus in the direction you want to move. If the game allowed for users to use the arrow keys instead for movement then it would have been a lot more better I think anyway. Also the use of the stylus could lead to scratch marks on the screen eventually, and wear the screen out(luckily I have a pre-owned DS on hand) Actually there's a stage in the game where you need to fly using balloons and find the pokeball you're supposed to land on. I got angry and quit the game because I could't figure it out yet haha, so that's a minus from this game.

Overall I know the game is fun and will kill quite a lot of time, unfortunately it is time I can't kill as I needs to study right now but I think the game does have quite a few ideas which the developers could develop into a better game for later on(3DS??). It's not your normal sort of racing game similar to Mario Kart etc so it is something different which I like. Overall I would give this game a 4/10. I probably wouldn't buy it if you are not a Pokemon fan. I myself bought it just for a collection, and it was pretty cheap. Hope this review was interesting and helps in your decisions. Well until next time, bye!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku (OVA Review)

Hey guys, long time no proper talk?? I'm currently watching Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku. I never heard of it before, and I think because I watched the original Higurashi anime series in 2012 before the OVA was made, but today I finally discovered it so I'm talk a bit about what I think about this OVA.

Well first off, I think it's better to watch the whole anime series before watching this OVA as you don't really get to know the characters in the OVA as the story goes straight in as soon as the OVA starts. I myself haven't seen the anime in 3 years so I have forgotten most of the plot so without looking at any reference, I will try my best with this review.

So basically the story is set in 1983(I believe) and there is a virus and a whole village is blocked off from the whole area. No contact, no food or water, or telephones. People are scared, and some have no idea what is going on and want to escape, but there are external people stopping them from escaping. If they are caught trying to escape, or heard to want to escape, then they are usually killed.

Well let me tell you, this OVA is not for the light hearted, neither is the anime. There is quite graphical violence as we have weapons + blood  which = gore. Shall we get back to the story?? Well the main protagonists are Keiichi, Mion and Rena, all of which are on a mission to escape from their village. Mion can be seen as the first character to take action and slice up some folks from the village. TBH I haven't seen any anime quite like Higurashi, even like Attack on Titan, there's a different feel to the type of gore they show, I guess you can say that I haven't quite found anything recent which has matched it yet, though maybe I'm just not looking far enough.

And well I won't revel anymore of the story-line, but you can see that there's quite a lot of potential for this OVA. As it is set before the actual anime takes place(I believe anyway, no research from me sorry), it really sets the scene of how they wound up where they were in the anime. Can't wait for the next episode, but why is it taking so long to release?? Maybe I'm missing something here, I'm just at 30 mins of the OVA, so that's all from my 30 minutes of knowledge. Well anyway, I'd give it a 8/10, it's a real must watch for any Higurashi fan, or anyone who loves a bit of anime gore with an interesting back story. I guess you can relate the virus story-line with the zombie stories which also include the release of a virus, though here we have people killing each other with a sort of knowledge of it happening. Anyway, g2g, really want to watch the rest of it haha. so good >< bye!!

*Ok edit, I realised that the story takes place after the anime series ended as Rika has the adult woman voice and talks to everyone without the problem of them not knowing. It makes sense too that everyone seems to have experience in fighting and survival from the previous events in the Higurashi anime.

Fresh off the Boat (TV Show)

Hey everyone, I managed to start watching Fresh off the Boat which is about a Taiwanese family who moves from DC to Florida from a relatively Asian community to a more westernised community. This shows is narrated by an eleven year old called Eddie who talks about his life when he was 11 in 1995.

The show portrays a lot of Asian stereotypical traits which you usually expect but I have to say that the show wasn't really what I expected just because the dad seems very Americanised and everyone has almost no Asian accent(but you can expect it because otherwise how could people understand).  I find this show pretty funny though, especially because they use sort of racial jokes that I can relate to.

But yea sorry, not much I can say about this at the moment because I am currently up to episdoe 2 at the moment, but I have to say that it is good that they have finally released a Asian family TV show because when have you seen one released in America??

For now I'd have to give this a 7/10 but I'm hoping that it'll get a lot better. Well until next time, bye!

Hero (2002 Film Review)

Hello Everybody, so today I finally had a chance to watch Hero which is a 2002 Chinese Wu Xia film directed by Zhang Yimou and stars the main protagonist Jet Li who plays a nameless character. Set around 200's BC, this film is basically a storytelling film on how the protagonist was able to kill three assassins Long Sky, Flying Snow, and Broken Sword.

Although this film received very positive reviews, for me I am not totally convinced on the plot as it does get a bit confusing at times as the film moves from present to the past and back and forth, with lies being told, it is uncertain if what we see from the past is actually part of the actual story or not. After about half way through the film I was completely lost(part of the reason why this review is so short).

On another note praise must be given to the artistic side of the film as almost all of the fighting scenes are shot beautifully and it's rare for costumes to always match the set(does that make sense)?? The director was able to film many scenes of fighting sequences interacting with water(just when is that ever really done in other films??). Sounds a bit random but if you take a look at the film for yourself you'll understand what I mean. An example such as two people hitting water droplets against each other. Did I mention that there's some really beautiful scenes of China too(at least you think it's in China).

As for the action, there is a fair bit of it in this film, and like I said before, the director(or choreographer??) took an artistic approach to all the fighting scenes as they are not like your usual fight scenes(Props for the use of wire-work).

Hm... can't say much else unfortunately. I'd have to give this film a 6.5/10. I mean it's not too bad but I find it really confusing because one moment you think someone is dead, and the next minute they are fine. Anyway until next time, bye!

You Can Be An Angel Too(Singaporean Drama)

*Please note that this will be a quick review*
So I started watching this drama on Friday, and I have been waiting to watch this drama for some time now. It basically revolves around the lives of nurses at a hospital in Singapore. What's different about this drama I think is that it focuses a lot on paying it forward. Although nurses help their patents as a job by doing certain tasks in their jobs, this drama shows that they go beyond their job occupation to help out their patents and help to fulfill their last wishes and the community as well(though this probably is a rare case in the real world)

Anyway, as this is a quick review, I will not go into too much detail as you can search it up yourself if you really want but what I like is that this drama does have quite a few cliff hanger story-lines which are built up and revealed throughout each episode. If you are expecting a lot of action, this this is the wrong type of drama for you as this is more of a drama set in present time focusing on people and relationships, and also on how nurses pay it forward. But yea, sorry about the quick review, I don't have much to say about this drama. I'd have to give this drama a 7/10 as it is not too bad at all. Well until next time, bye!

Pokemon The Series XY Collection 1 (Series DVD Collection Review)

Hey everyone, sorry for being so slack on reviews but I really haven't been in the mood for doing any reviews lately so I haven't been doing much. At the moment I am watching Pokemon XY so I thought I might do a review on the collection released by Beyond Home Entertainment.

The series XY continues on from the previous Black and White series in which Ash and Pikachu go on and continue their journey by visiting the Kalos region. Just like when Ash traveled to Sinnoh and Hoenn, Ash decided to leave all his old Pokemon behind once again except for his partner Pikachu.

I know this series has similarities between the first season and the Ruby and Sapphire arc in which for one thing, the opening uses the same lyrics as the original series, and also (Spoiler Alert), Ash loses his gym battle and decided to train up his Pokemon. Oh yea, did I mention that there's a girl chasing Ash??? Let's not reveal too much so soon :) Also in this series Ash travels with with a young girl who is still too young to be a trainer(remember Max??) though she doesn't have the brains Max did, but let's not compare them :P

A few things that has changed is that Ash's region starter isn't a grass type, and Ash has had some cosmetic changes which I don't think are too noticeable. Also Ash's male friend doesn't have the different eyes Cilan and Brock had, but we are introduced to the art of science :) Oh yea, whenever there's a TBC the episode usually ends as a cliff hanger which is a bit different to usual episodes which normally end. This is usually because the story for that episode ends but then they bring in a bit of the story for the next episode to make that cliff hang, annoying! >< Don't get me started on Nurse Joy ai-ya!

That's all I want to say about the series at the moment anyway. For the series  I think it's pretty average but it's quite enjoyable at the same time. My rating would be 7.5/10 :D The series follows what normally happens in each series so there's nothing much different, just new Pokemon and characters etc.

As for this collection, I like how Beyond has finally taken the time to make a nice selection screen instead of just a list of episode so good job! Just like the usual designs, Beyond has split up this series into two collections. This collection features a red and blue Poke-Ball, though I'm not certain if they just made that Poke-Ball or not, the design continues on from the previous collections so yey :D

So what's missing from this collection?? I know many people are still wanting subs and Japanese versions, but I guess it can't be helped too much, but why no English subs?? Let's hope everyone knows what they're saying right?? I also noticed that the audio is still 2.0 so that's not too great, but it's still typical for a TV show. At the moment I'm still waiting for Blu-Ray releases of the series so Beyond Home Entertainment, please keep that in mind!!

Not much else to say really, so let's leave it there. If you're wondering how much I got it for, it was around $18 price matched on Mightyape, so it's pretty normal. Usually it sells for around $25 so if you can, be sure to price match it to save yourself some $$. Until next time, cya!

Stalker (TV Show)

Stalker is a thrilling and suspenseful drama about victims being stalked. The main characters are  Jack Larsen portrayed by Dylan McDermott and Beth Davis portrayed by Maggie Q, both who are members of the Threat Assessment Unit. What is different with this show to other shows I have seen is that it sets itself apart from the usual murder cases you see with shows such as NCIS and CSI as it deals with usually (alive) victims who are or have been attacked, and the main characters in a role you'd expect people to have guns with, without carrying guns on your normal basis. Also one of the main characters has a secret life of their own by doing something bad, something few shows touch on.

A good example of suspense and thrill would be episode 2. At the start you think a stalker might appear, and you get ready for that scare, but then you realise that there's nothing that scary at all, you just become scared of nothing.

Although this show got pretty bad reviews, I actually enjoy this show and was waiting to watch it for quite some time. Because Maggie Q stars in this show, I think it has influenced my review but I do enjoy watching this show.

I'll be back with another review on this show later on maybe, but for now I quite enjoy it, shorry for not doing such an in-depth review. I'll give it a 7.5/10. I think it'll give you a new perspective on TV dramas and also on how stalkers(may) work. But anyway, hope you enjoyed this review. See you all next time, bye!

How to Get Away with Murder (Ep1 TV Show Review)

Hey everyone, I'm currently watching the first episode of How to Get Away with Murder. I've heard of it for quite some time now and finally it's started airing in NZ. Anyway, from what I've seen so far within the few minutes of this show, the series starts off at present where a group of college students have just killed someone(unknown) and we are later brought back to before the murder happened(day one of college). I was unsure of this happening until I saw the scene of a statue figure interchanged between the past and present day(seems a bit confusing but you'll understand once you see the show).

So far, the show is pretty interesting, I just wondering if the person killed is who we think it is, and why the students killed someone. My thoughts is that it's just an assignment, but it'd be a bit strange if that really happened. If you're looking for a mysterious show then this is the one for you! I absolutely love these sorts of shows. I never did a review on God's Gift yet(Korean Drama) but I'll do one on that soon as it's a pretty mysterious show too.

But yea anyway, so far I'd give this show a 7.5/10. I'm excited to know what will happen in later episodes. As the film progresses, I believe that in this show the characters are portrayed as not entirely good or bad, some worse than others. I think that maybe one of the characters were only helping to kill, but too soon to make assumptions. See you guys next time, bye!

I'm Back!

Hey guys, it's been quite a while hasn't it?? I think the last time I posted was just a few days after my exam period and after that I sort of forgot because of my holiday, but I've been having a break and I'm finally back to posting. I've seen quite a few movies and dramas which I'll be reviewing over the next few days to make up for my lack of posts. So anyway, thanks for sticking by for so long! I'll be changing the layout a tiny bit so that the info is more easily understood, thanks :)
