I Saw the Devil (Korean Film)

Ok first off, this psychological thriller/horror film is not for the faint hearted as it deals with quite graphic violence(though most of it is actually off screen) and includes nudity too. I myself did not expect quite a film while I was starting to eat my dinner so that was a really bad idea!

Anyway, the film starts off not too bad, Joo-yun played by Oh San-ha is sitting in her car on a snowy night due to her car breaking down. While talking to her fiancé, a man appears and offers to fix her car, though she quickly shoos him away, only to have him later break into her car and knock her unconscious. He later kills her by chopping her into pieces. Oh yea did I mention her fiancé is an agent called Soo-hyun (Played by Lee Byung-hun), so basically whole film revolves around him finding the killer and tracking and stopping him once and for all to get revenge (I'm around 50% through the movie so far). I later found out that the agent lets the killer off before the killer goes and finds his next target. I find this aspect of the film a bit odd, and I don't quite understand why it is done.

All I have to say is that if you want to watch a psychopathic maniac on the killing Supre then this film is the one for you. I myself have watched countless horror films but this one really tops the gore factor. I like how the director has utilised off screen violence to make scenes so much more gruesome, it's really fascinating how the director has done this. For the storyline, I think it is very unique, something out of the ordinary. Maybe because I have not watched many Korean films before, but they seem to have a way with storytelling. There are countless fight scenes in this film which I think would entertain the people who are interested in action films as well.

Overall this film is quite something, a bit hard to understand in parts, and a bit hard to watch in others, but overall I think this film is quite something. I do not think this film is suited for everyone, but if you are into more horror films this this film is more for you. My rating would have to be a 7/10. See you next time in my next review, bye!

BecexTech NZ (Website Review)

Hi everyone, today I received my Canon PowerShot G7 X that I ordered from BecexTech NZ. Before I review the camera, I just wanted to do a review on the company first for people who may be wanting to know if they should trust this company or not.

So I ordered this camera from this site because I saw that it was cheap, and got good ratings so I decided to take a chance. There were many extras in buying the camera including extra battery, extended warranty, postage insurance etc. I bought an extra battery and spent on the postage insurance(though I'm wondering if it was even necessary). It took about a week for the order to process and ship off and arrived within 3 days. It got caught up by customs today, but I was able to manage the situation and it arrived today :)

First off I I have to say that I was a bit worried about the transaction process of buying from this item. They sent an order confirmation letter saying that the order was processing, and another one saying that they sent off the item(s) so that's pretty good. And processing was relatively fast, including postage.

The negatives from this site is that they order items from Hong Kong (might be from some other places too) but instead of stock on shelves, they order overseas, this means that you have a chance of needing to pay GST. When I bought from this website I thought that I would not need to deal with GST because it seemed like a NZ company, but because the items are shipped from oversea
Overall I'm not quite sure I would buy from this company again due to the GST risk, bus, you do deal with GST, that is the main negative thing I think you must consider when buying from this website. They also forgot to send my extra battery so I am following up on their customer service on this so I'll keep you guys posted. But if you are looking to take a risk on GST then why not? This company is one of the cheapest out there online in NZ.

The Crucible (2011 South Korean Film)

Hey everyone, new movie I'm watching today thanks to Yesasia for the free DVD's :)
The DVD I have calls this movie Silenced though I searched it up online and got the Name The Crucible. Anyway, this movie is a 2011 South Korean movie which is based on a true story (I can't believe it!). The story revolves around Gwangju Inhwa School which is a hearing impaired school for which students are victims to all sorts of horrible things by teachers at the school. The film starts off quiet enough, you don't suspect anything strange, but after hearing screams from the girl's bathroom Kang In-ho (Played by Gong Yoo) seems to get a bit suspicious, and throughout the film things unravel, as secrets are revealed about the school.

I think overall the film is very touching and emotional. I've never watched a movie that felt so real to me. There's bits where I really wanted to punch the actors in the face! I think the director, writers, actors and whoever else were involved in this film did a really really great job to make the film as believable as it is. I am not quite sure how much the film is based on real events,  but I can say that I really believed every single moment of it.

I think this film is a very mind changing for me anyway, I would give this film an easy 9.5/10 and would really urge people to watch this film.

Card Captor Sakura (Anime Review)

I finally finished watching Card Captor Sakura after numerous months watching it!!Card Captor Sakura had been part of my childhood, and even watching it now, it still is one of my most favourite anime titles ever, I still can't get enough of it. Growing up living in a "western" country, I was only able to watch the English dub version, so watching the Japanese version for the first time(I bought the whole collection last year) I was forced to watch the whole thing in Japanese, and yes there are numerous differences between the two. If you are interested you can read other people's reviews online about all the differences but I will not be really discussing about them here.
* Update, I do so be warned!

Basically the anime revolves around the life of a young girl named Sakura who accidentally let loose all of the Clow Cards which are magical cards which possesses powers such as jump, fly, wind etc. Because she let loose all of the cards, she must capture them and return them back into their card forms before something bad might happen to the world. I myself love these sort of action/ adventure magic anime titles which also revolve around school life. There's something about this anime which really helps inspire people and wish that they could control these Clow cards themselves.

There are two differences which I must mention here because they really stand out and might affect which version you may want to watch. One is that the voice actors in the Japanese vs the English dub. In the Japanese everyone is a lot more high pitched and girly/ cute. I can see why in the English dub they went to a more mature sounding cast which was I believe so that more of the male viewers could enjoy the show more. My sister started watching the English dub yesterday and I thought it looked a bit strange as I'm used to watching the Japanese dub now, but that's just me. I know there are people out there who are only loyal to everything original with no dub, but I do enjoy watching dub sometimes, as long as the voice actors are similar in both versions, Card Captor Sakura is one of those exceptions. I don't think I could ever enjoy watching the dub again!

There's also another reason why I don't think I could ever enjoy watching the dub again, and it's because there's numerous scenes which are cut in the dub so that the show saves time overall. There are some episodes which were removed, and some episode shifts. Did you know that the first episode in the Dub isn't even the actual first episode in the original??!!! I couldn't believe it, my childhood was a lie bahaha. Anyway....

Overall I'd have to rate this title a 9.5/10, it is seriously one of the best I have ever seen, and hardly anything can match Card Captor Sakura, and this is me who has watched numerous titles! You know I haven't really talked much about the actual title but I think I should discuss why guys should watch this title too(people who are put off cute titles).

So if you're a young boy or even just someone who is put off cute stuff, I have to say that there's more to the anime than just the cute, girly, pink world of Sakura. Everyone who created this anime title really did a good job with the storyline because they were able to characters looks so cute, yet have such a serious side as well. There's a lot of characters who have a mysterious side of them as well which is later revealed in future episodes so you must watch out for this, especially the final episodes, I had goosebumps, and I had already watched it numerous times(last time was in 2011).

Shall we end this post here before it gets any longer?? Anyway, if you have not seen this anime yet then i highly recommend watching it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Cya in my next post! Bye!

Pokémon Dash (Game Review)

Hey everyone, just got back from playing Pokemon Dash. I'll just be quickly talking about the game. So basically, this game is a racing game in which you start off playing with Pikachu, and you race against a number of Pokemon. The aim of the game is to run over selected Pokemon spots which light up(sort of like flags), and you need to run in the order of the Pokeballs. You cannot just select any one, you must go towards the direction of the arrows which guide you.

Overall the game does take some getting used to. I had to use the restart button multiple times in the beginning. I think the game would be a lot more fun if you didn't have to use the stylus as this sort of affects game play, as you need to keep moving your stylus in the direction you want to move. If the game allowed for users to use the arrow keys instead for movement then it would have been a lot more better I think anyway. Also the use of the stylus could lead to scratch marks on the screen eventually, and wear the screen out(luckily I have a pre-owned DS on hand) Actually there's a stage in the game where you need to fly using balloons and find the pokeball you're supposed to land on. I got angry and quit the game because I could't figure it out yet haha, so that's a minus from this game.

Overall I know the game is fun and will kill quite a lot of time, unfortunately it is time I can't kill as I needs to study right now but I think the game does have quite a few ideas which the developers could develop into a better game for later on(3DS??). It's not your normal sort of racing game similar to Mario Kart etc so it is something different which I like. Overall I would give this game a 4/10. I probably wouldn't buy it if you are not a Pokemon fan. I myself bought it just for a collection, and it was pretty cheap. Hope this review was interesting and helps in your decisions. Well until next time, bye!
